Therapeutic counseling services, Natural Health Consultation, therapeutic groups and educational classes covering a myriad of specific problems and topics are offered through the Family Counseling Center to address psychological, social, biological and spiritual concerns. The goal of the Family Counseling Center is to provide treatment and enrichment of the individual, youth, and family.

The Family Counseling Center is licensed by the Colorado Department of Health (Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division) as an outpatient facility through Lost and Found Inc. and is located in Wheat Ridge, Colo. Therapeutic counseling services are offered regardless of age, race, gender or ability to pay. Groups Being Offered by the Family Counseling Center

Anger Management

  • TAAV (Teens Alternative to Anger and Violence)
    A group for Teenagers that focuses on how to identify anger and manage it safely.
  • TAAV Jr. (Teens Alternative to Anger and Violence)
    A group for youth ages ten to thirtee that focuses on how to identify anger and manage it safely.

Sexual Trama

  • MAPV (Male Adolescent Victims and Perpetrators)
    A group for males ages thirteen to eighteen who have experience and/or perpetrated sexual trauma. Emphasis is on understanding their victim/perpetrator cycle and developing and utilizing skills to break the cycle.
  • MAPV (Relapse Prevention)
    A group for males ages thirteen to eighteen who are concluding their sexual trauma treatment. The twelve-week group focuses on skills to prevent relapse, emphasizing proactive planning for ongoing health and safety.
  • GAPV (Girl Adolescent Victims and Perpetrators)
    A group for females ages thirteen to eighteen who have experience and/or perpetrated sexual trauma. Emphasis is on understanding their victim/perpetrator cycle and developing and utilizing skills to break the cycle.
  • CAPVI(Children Addressing Perpetrator and Victim Issues)
    A twelve week group for children ages nine to twelve. Emphasis is on boundary reconstruction, developing tools for saying "no", skills for managing emotions and enlisting the help of safe adults.

Boundaries

  • Kid Power
    A group for children ages four to eight who have experienced or witnessed boundary violations including emotional, physical and sexual abuse as well as invasive or frightening medical procedures.

Independent Living/ Social Skills

  • Life Skills Training Group
    An educational group for teens who are taking on adult responsibilities. Issues addressed include obtaining and retaining employment and housing, financial management and accessing community resources.
  • SAGE (Social Awareness through Group Experience)
    A group for teens designed to develop their social skills while simultaneously addressing current issues they face with self, others and community.

Substance Abuse

  • Drug and Alcohol Group
    A group for teens ages thirteen to nineteen who have substance abuse issues. Emphasis is on gaining tools for achieving and maintaining sobriety.
  • DUI Group
    A group for adults designed to meet the requirements of court ordered education and/or treatment.

Parenting

A group for parents of all ages. Emphasis is on helping group members discover new options in parenting. Groups focus on the many aspects of parenting children of all ages.

We recognize the family as necessary and valuable for the well being of individuals and our society. We offer families in need a variety of services at the point of greatest impact -- in the home. In-home therapy can help the entire family achieve the healthy patterns and relationships they desire. By working in the home, Family Preservation Services can help prevent out-of-home placement of children, as well as help families successfully reintegrate when a child does return home.
