Transitional Living Program

There are times when it’s just not appropriate or possible for youth to return home after being in therapeutic or correctional care.  Our Transitional Living Program prepares young men ages 16-21 to live on their own.  Located in Arvada, Colorado, the TLP provides a licensed 16 bed residential home where young men are able to work and go to school while engaging in pro-social activities. The TLP helps these young men develop the confidence they need to successfully navigate their lives and become productive, self-sufficient members of society.

Programming includes:

  • Life Skills
  • Pro-Social
  • Culinary
  • Employment
  • Education
  • Restorative Justice
  • Open Minds Program

Residents participate in daily life skills groups designed to focus on one of fourteen life skills arenas:

The one-size-fits-all approach to juvenile crime simply does not work. If a child begins to believe he is no longer a desired member of society, a destructive cycle is initiated. Restorative justice brings those harmed by crime or conflicts, and those responsible for the harm, into collaboration. The goal is to enable the offender to appropriately participate in the healing process, to literally and figuratively repair the harm done to the greatest extent possible so that the individuals and communities impacted by crime find a positive way forward.

The TLP utilizes the following:

  • Full payment of restitution
  • Full completion of community service hours
  • Completion of an approved restorative justice project
  • Participation on community/victim panels

In 2012, the TLP will offer an unique program for youth who have had extreme difficulty fitting into and conforming to conventional norms. We have developed a specialized process to identify these youth and to channel their energy to capitalize on their strengths while providing sustainable life skills training.
